Event Recap:Berkshire's final record: 9-8-1
Berkshire drove 2:30 hours to Middlesex today for a New England Quarterfinal match-up. We knew this would be a battle as Middlesex entered the game with only one loss.
As the first whistle blew, the Bears played with confidence and played the best 30 minutes of field hockey they've played this season. With beautiful passing and aggressive play, he only thing missing was a notch on the scoreboard. Olivia Good '15, Sophia Peluso '16, and Sandra Stephan '15 worked tirelessly at midfield to support the play and open up lanes. The Bears entered the half with a 0-0 tie and confident that if we made minor adjustments, we would end the game victorious.
Unfortunately we could not sustain our play in the second half. Middlesex stepped up their game, stopping up our possessions and taking away opportunities. Although three separate time Middlesex
earned cards to put them down a player, Berkshire could not take advantage. With the sun in her eyes, Emily Czajkowski turned away five shots in the second half. Middlesex scored both of their goals off
corners. These were beautifully executed corners where they passed to the open player on the circle and found the lane.
A well-played game and a season the team should be proud of. Many thanks to our seniors for their passion and dedication: Allegra Horstmann, Sophie Perekslis, Maureen McCarthy, and Ronnie Lortie.
Additional thanks to Mackenzie Lancaster and Arwen Neski for coming to serve as managers today. Finally, to the parents for all of their support. Thanks for a great season, ladies. It was a blast.
