Field Hockey - Girls Varsity
vs. Canterbury School
|Date:||October 19, 2013|
|Score:||Berkshire 1 - Canterbury 0|
Event Recap:Berkshire record: 6-4-1
This was an absolute MUST win for the Bears today. In the past few years we have had tough games against Canterbury, but the girls stepped up today and played a solid game from start to finish. Our
first half was sharp as we made great passing connections all over the field. Our forwards used our midfielders well and our backs were great support as they did a nice job of seeing the open space and
preventing Canterbury from having any real offensive threats.
The second half revealed a much more aggressive Canterbury team. They began to find the sidelines and work the ball past our D for a few offensive opportunities. Fortunately, with 13 minutes to play in the game, we earned a corner. Berkshire beautifully executed the corner providing Olivia Good '15 with a direct shot on net. The Canterbury goalie made a nice initial save. Sabrina Tattersfield '16 snuck the
ball over to Sophie Perekslis '14 who slammed the goal home. Berkshire continued to put on the pressure, but simply could not get the ball through a packed in circle. Olivia Good and Sophie
Perekslis had their best games today as did Ronnie Lortie '14 and Natalie Harrington '16. Impressive efforts by Annette Key '16 and Renee Dreher '15 who came off the bench and played solid D. Jamie
Ernst '15 stepped in goal today for her first game and made a beautiful diving save with a minute left to play in the game to preserve the win. An all around good effort by the Bears today. Next
up: NMH at home on Wednesday.
