Field Hockey - Girls Varsity

Berkshire Record: 5-4-1
This was a must win for the Bears. Facing Class B rival Suffield in front of our very own Parents' Weekend crowd fired the girls up and made them hungry for victory. Several of the girls were playing in front of their parents for the very first time. Berkshire held the majority for the momentum throughout the game, but in particular, dominated the game in the first half. Although we only took a total of ten shots on net, at least ten more went wide, and we missed several opportunities to connect just below the offensive 25. We had the luxury of being able to play everyone in the game. Sabrina Tattersfield '16 scored her first goals of the season today. She scored early - just six minutes into the game off of a rebound. Sabrina hammered home the goal and nearly jumped five feet in the air in celebration! She solidified the win just four minutes later off of a nice cross from Olivia Good '15. Sophia Peluso '16 played a solid game at midfield, as did Sandra Stephan '15 and Olivia Good '15. Georgia McLanahan '16 came into the game to relieve Natalie Harrington '16 who was not feeling well, and played aggressively. Solid play by newcomer Jamie Ernst '15 and Annette Key '16 as they both demonstrated how deep our small team really is. Though it would have been nice to score a few more goals in this game, this afternoon gave us confidence as we head into our final six games of the season. After a much deserved Long Weekend, the Bears travel to Canterbury on Saturday in another must win battle on Canterbury's grass field. Here's hoping the Bears play as well on Canterbury's grass as we did against Gunnery!
