Field Hockey - Girls Varsity vs. Westminster School

Event Type: Regular

Date: November 3, 2012

Score:0 - 5

Event Recap:

The Bears were eager to face the Martlets of Westminster in hopes of knocking off a tough Class A team.  We needed a big Class A win to put us in the hunt for post-season play, but unfortunately Westminster's aggressiveness, team play and ball movement was too much for us to handle.  They came out hard and fast and the Bears had difficulty recovering.  The Martlets went up quickly and never looked back.

Heading into the half with a 0-2 deficit, the Bears knew that if we just worked smarter, we would be back in this game.  With a few opportunities, we nearly put our team up on the board, but we simply could not muster up enough consistent pressure to put the ball in the net.  Westminster completed the game with five goals; the Bears were unable to put a score on the board.  Down both Kira von Steinbergs '13 as well as Jeanne Morin '13, we will have Jeanne back on Saturday when we finish our season against Pomfret.
