Field Hockey - Girls Varsity vs. Hotchkiss
Event Type: Regular
Advantage:Home
Date: October 3, 2012
Result:Loss
Score:0 - 5
Event Recap:

The Bears took a tough loss to the ten year reigning New England Champion Hotchkiss field hockey team. Despite the looks of the score, the Hotchkiss earned a hard fought victory, pulling it out of the tight grasp of the Bear defense. While the Bearcats maintained offensive pressure from the start of the game, the Berkshire brick wall of Taylor Sorenson, Olivia Mason, Alli Sugar, Sophie Perekslis, Sandra Stephan and Maureen McCarthy held them off until 18:54 when a communication error allowed them to slip by. Seven minutes later, they were able to put another in off a beautiful corner.

Coming out of halftime feeling rested and ready, the Bears were able to fight hard through the second half to get offensive chances. Despite hard work from Chase Gerber, Maddie Bricken, Jeanne Morin, Kira von Steinbergs, Annie Fraiman and Liza Jane Branch, Berkshire was unable to muster much offensive strength. As the game to an end, a tired Bear defense fell captive to Hotchkiss’ penalty corner plays and they were able to put an additional three goals in the back of the net. Taylor Sorenson had a stellar game, saving 25 of 30 shots, including a penalty stroke.

The Bears look to get back to even on Saturday afternoon at Williston.
