Advantage:Away

Date: September 22, 2012

Result:Loss
Score:0 - 4

Event Recap:
The Bears faced their toughest competition yet, in the well-oiled machine that is Greenwich Academy Varsity Field Hockey. From the first whistle, Greenwich took the reins of the game, maintaining possession and playing in our defensive 25 for the vast majority. Berkshire held off an absolute barrage in the first five minutes, defending against penalty corner after penalty corner. Berkshire had a couple of quick breaks throughout the game, but the stalwart and resolve Greenwich defenders held us off.

The Bears defense got a lot of action today, fending off Greenwich’s advances on 16 corners. Sophie Perekslis led our back line, flanked by Maureen McCarthy and Allegra Horstman. Alli Sugar stepped into the large shoes of Olivia Mason as our sweep today, playing a crucial role in our circle defense. Taylor Sorenson faced a season high 23 shots, more than the past two games combined.

The Bears look to Wednesday’s home opener and a chance to knock of Millbrook and get back to .500.
