The Bears battled through myriad distractions after arriving to the field late and having only a quick warm-up. Playing on grass for only the second time this season, it became quickly apparent to the girls that they were going to have to adjust their style in order to find success. After a playing a timid opening ten minutes, the Bears regrouped on a time-out and returned to the field ready to take control of the game. With the Bears stellar goal-scoring machine Maddie Beitler ‘17 taking a quick break after getting the call up to Varsity for that earlier matchup, the onus to put the “biscuit in the basket” fell on the shoulders of Tatum Boyle ‘16 and Lindsy Dario ‘16. The speedy combo did an excellent job of moving the ball through the attacking zone and creating opportunities in front of the net. With just five minutes to play in the first half, Eliza Griffin ‘16 capitalized on a chance, plugging home the winning goal off a rebounded shot.
Throughout the competition, both teams played a solid passing game, but found the circle a tough place to be as each team produced only three shots on goal. Keeping Loomis to those three shots required an impressive effort from the Berkshire backfield as they worked their way out of ten defensive corners, allowing the ball to reach the net on only two.Berkshire hits the road to The Gunnery for another game on the grass.
