Berkshire traveled down the road to play against our Sheffield neighbor, Mt. Everett. The match did not start well for the Bears with little communication or solid passing taking place on the field. The Bears were able to dial it in late in the half however, as Kylie Wilkes ’16 scored on a nice pass from Annie Hubbard ’16 to give Berkshire at 1-0 edge going into the intermission.
In the second half, goalkeeper Lauren Henman ’14 eagerly switched from keeper to forward as Mia Vantine ’16 took on the role as the Bear’s last line of defense. The Bears were anxious to change the momentum when played resumed, but were tripped up by an early Mount Everett goal. With the game tied, the Bear’s rallied with a battery of shots on the Eagle’s goal, but it was not until the 34th minute of the half that Henman ’14 skillfully maneuvered the ball near the end line and around Mount Everett’s keeper for a goal. Three minutes later, the Bears scored again on a beautiful pass combination - Erin Dillon ’17 notching the tally and converting on a pass from Henman ’14. The Bears closed out the game on top 3-1.
Berkshire hosts Kingswood Oxford on Wednesday at 3:15 and plays at Westminster at 3:00 on Saturday.
