Soccer - Girls Junior Varsity vs. The Loomis Chaffee School

Event Type: Regular

Date: October 9, 2013

Score:Berkshire 0 - Loomis 3

Event Recap:

On Wednesday, Berkshire played the Loomis Chaffee Pelicans at home. From the start, the Bears knew it would a be a tough game and fought hard from the 1st whistle. Loomis came ready for battle though and responded determinedly against the Bear’s aggressive play. Unfortunately, Berkshire’s efforts to keep the score board clean came up short late in the half after some particularly physical Pelican play resulted in goal.

With the score at 0-1, the Bears entered the 2nd half with renewed fire and intensity to even the score. However, the ball continued to roll the wrong way for Berkshire. Loomis’ 2nd goal of the day resulted from an accidental ricochet off a Bear defender. And even with an aggressive counterattack by midfielders Mia Viante ’16, Emmi Graebner ’14, Kylie Wilkes ’16 and Madison Heilshorn ’16, Loomis never let up and eventually scored their last goal with 15 minutes left on the game clock.

Despite the 3-0 loss, the Bears showed true grit and played hard throughout the 80 minute contest and Lauren Henman’s ’14 standout play in the goal continued to keep Berkshire within striking distance despite Loomis’ numerous attacks on goal.

The Bears will play Suffield at home on Saturday at 3:00.
