Soccer - Girls Junior Varsity
vs. The Ethel Walker School
|Date:||September 25, 2013|
|Score:||Berkshire 4 - Ethel Walker 0|
The Bears controlled the game from beginning to end against Ethel Walker on Wednesday. From early on Erin Dillon ’17 and Kylie Wilkes ’16 sprayed Ethel Walker’s goalie with shots, and it finally proved fruitful when Emily Hubbard ’14 gave a leading pass to Dillon ’17 for the Bear’s 1st score of the afternoon. The Bears were equally dominant on defense with the help of aggressive defensive play by Hadley Laskowski ’16 and Madison Heilshorn ’16. The Bears capitalized on a barrage of shots against the Ethel Walker goal late in the 2nd half as Dillon netted her second score of the day with a crafty left footed shot.
In the 2nd half, goalie Lauren Henman ’14 tried her hand out on the field as Mia Vantine ’16 took the net. The Bears extended the dominance into the 2nd half as they continued to win the possession game with their superb midfield and offensive play.
Dillon created quite a few opportunities to notch her 3rd goal of the game, but Ethel Walker found a way to stymy her attempts. While they may have been able to thwart Dillion’s scoring efforts, Ethel Walker couldn’t contain all of Berkshire’s offensive weapons. It was not long before 1st half goalie Henman gained control and scored, sailing a solid shot to the back of the net. Emily Walsh ’16 , Eloise Morrow ’14 and Emma Weinstein ’16 did a lot of the heavy lifting behind the scene that led to Henman’s 2nd goal of the day. When the final whistle blew, the scoreboard read 4-0 in favor of the Bears and keepers Henman and Vantine recorded another shutout for the season.
