Soccer - Boys Thirds
|Date:||October 2, 2013|
|Score:||Berkshire 5 - Millbrook 2|
On Wednesday, the Bears found themselves up against Millbrook - a team that, at first glance, was ready to take the ball and run with it. Berkshire quickly found themselves down two goals in the first five minutes of play: a mishandled ball in the goalie's box and penalty kick led to two goals for Millbrook. With solid play from Charlie Goldstein in the midfield, Berkshire slowly began to take control of the game. Charlie played well; he was aggressive on defense and distributed the ball nicely. With control of the ball came numerous scoring opportunities. Continuing his strong play from last game, Barclay Gammel found Michael Petersen for the first goal. Corey Wieczorek, on pass form Ehan Keator, made a nice move from the corner to score a hard ground shot and tie the game before the half.
The second half of the match saw Berkshire continue to control the ball. With Sam Merrill and Andrew Koudijs at striker, Berkshire scored early. Sam made a nice beautiful cross to Andrew, who scored with a header. Corey added his second goal (unassisted) soon after. Viggo Blomquist, with ten minutes left, scored his first goal of the season on cross from Corey Wieczorek. Despite starting slowly, Berkshire played a well-balanced game in the second half. We will need to keep up the good play as we look to our next match at Trinity Pawling Saturday.
