Soccer - Boys Junior Varsity vs. Trinity Pawling

Event Type: Regular

Date: October 5, 2013

Event Recap:
The Berkshire Boys JV Soccer team traveled to NY to face the Trinity Pawling (TP) JV side.  The first half was a stalemate, although the Bears outshot TP 6-1, they couldn't seem to find the back of the net.  The best opportunity for the Bears came from a streaking run up the left flank made by striker Juan Cedeno 17' who beat a defender to the touch line and crossed the ball near post, the defender was fortunate to clear it just before Chris Zaffanella 15' attempted a shot on goal.
The second half was a different story with the same result.  After dominating possession through midfielders Chris Kreke 15' and Pete Warsinske 14' the game began to get a little chippy.  In the second half TP was awarded 3 yellow cards and a straight red, the Bears received a yellow card late in the game as well. Even with a man up in the last 15 minutes of the game the Bears were unable to capitalize on their opportunities. Thanks to great team work and the leadership of center back Andre Bogdanovic 15', not to mention a game saving stop made by keeper Liam Thor 17' late in the game, the Bears were able to maintain a clean sheet and finish this hard fought game in a 0-0 tie. The JV Boys team will play their next game on Wednesday at Taft where they hope to maintain a strong defensive front while also improving on their finishing in the attacking third.
