The Bears played a fiercely contested and physical match on Saturday against a well-coached Williston squad. Several Williston players made our biggest guys look like third formers. While Berkshire was able to control possession for the majority of the game, finding the back of the net remained a challenge. Perhaps emblematic of our struggle, winger Jared Renzi '16 struck the cross bar from inside the six-yard box with 3 minutes remaining.
The Bears had several other offensive opportunities, including some great combination play between strikers Juan Cedeno '17, midfielders Mark Driscoll '17 and Gerry Giminez-Valdez '15. Nonetheless, the ball never seemed to go in the direction intended once near the 18. Chris Zaffanella '15, Zack Buteux'16, and Jason Tao '16 all worked tirelessly up top but couldn't break free of the Williston defense. It was great to have Alden Boldt '14 back in the starting lineup. Substitutes Vaughan Kavanagh '15, James Funderburg '15 and Duncan Anderson all contributed some great minutes. It was a tough loss to stomach.
