As part of a caravan of Berkshire teams, the boys JV soccer squad traveled to Suffield Academy this Saturday for their parents' weekend celebration. Eager to regain our winning ways, the Bears started the game with high energy and intensity. We weren't always able to convert this into successful combinations initially and Suffield seemed to be a more cohesive team. However, through hard work and persistent attacks, the Bears started to find holes in the other team's defense. Several forwards and wingers had one-on-one situations with the keepers but our first touch often let us down. Twenty minutes in winger Dan Driscoll '15 played a great through ball behind the defense. Fresh off the bench, Sam Lewis '14 beat his mark and drove a shot right at the keeper. The keeper made a great save but the ball rebounded off of Sam's chest into the Suffield goal. For the remainder of the half both teams shared possession equally and neither side presented a significant threat to the other. The second half saw the Bears find more through balls and create several more scoring opportunities. Winger Jimmy McKee '15 combined nicely with striker Chris Zaffanella '15 to generate several great runs on the left side. Fifteen minutes into the second half, Jimmy'swall passes broke down the defense and he received the ball just outside the 6 yard box unmarked. He cleverly slotted the ball past the keeper for the final score of the game.
