After thirty years as a winter program, Berkshire volleyball moved to the fall season in 2009. We field teams at the varsity and junior varsity levels each year and have occasionally supported a thirds squad. The volleyball teams play a competitive schedule against independent schools in Southern and Western New England and are now members of the New England Prep School Fall Girls Volleyball Association. As a medium-sized school, Berkshire plays as a member of Class B against schools, such as The Ethel Walker School, Canterbury School, Westover School, Wilbraham and Monson School and Miss Porter’s School. In addition, we will continue to compete against schools such as Miss Hall's School and The MacDuffie School as well as play a small number of matches against Class A schools including Hotchkiss, Taft and Loomis Chaffee. As we transition into the fall, Berkshire hopes to continue its tradition of being a competitive volleyball program.
Over the past thirty years, the volleyball program has emphasized team play and tenacious defense. In addition to pursuing careers in fields such as medicine, education, finance, engineering, acting, fashion design and the armed forces in life beyond Berkshire, players have participated in programs at schools such as Colgate University, Emory University, St. Lawrence University, Wheaton College, Western Maryland College, and Dickinson College.
