Football - Boys Varsity vs. The Taft School

Event Type: Regular

Date: November 2, 2013

Event Recap:

In the Berkshire Bears last home stand of the 2013 year, the Bears lost to the Rhinos of Taft 33-12. Berkshire got off to a great start on both sides of the ball stopping the Rhinos on 4th down and scoring on the ensuing drive. Regan Haas (’14) Completed passes to Cyrus Rothwell-Ferrais (’14) and Joe McBride (’14) to put the Bears in the red zone. Haas’s next completion was a 5-yd pass to Fullback Connor Waldron (’16) for a touchdown. Berkshire’s defense  continued to make stops forcing a punt and a 4th down sack by Jay Bolton (’16) on Taft’s next two possessions.  Unfortunately, the Bears were unable to cash in on the following drives, and back to back turnovers led to scores for the Rhinos. The Bears had another shot in Rhino territory after the first of two interceptions by Will Fortenbaugh (’14), but turned the ball over on downs.  The Rhinos continued to control the second quarter and took a 27-6 lead into halftime.  The Bears battled back in the second half but were only able to punch in one more score. A mixture of Taft big plays and a failure to convert their own proved to be the determining factor for the Bears. Berkshire will travel to face Brunswick next weekend.
