Football - Boys Varsity vs. Avon Old Farms School

Event Type: Regular

Date: September 28, 2013

Event Recap:

The Bears travelled down to Avon, Connecticut on beautiful Saturday afternoon and suffered a 6-37 defeat at the hands of the Winged Beavers of Avon Old Farms. The Bears forced two early Avon turnovers but were unable to capitalize on those opportunities. Avon scored on several long touchdown passes, and they took a 30 to 0 lead into the half.

The Bears came out in the second half with a much better sense of urgency. The line of TJ Adams (‘14), Ben Akim (‘14), Kevin Crabtree (‘17), Brendan Moloy (‘15), Jay Allen (‘15), and Jake Kaminetsky (‘15) did a good job of protecting Peter Dunn (‘15). Dunn completed several passes to Regan Haas (‘14) and Cyrus Rothwell-Ferraris (‘14). Rothwell-Ferraris scored the only touchdown on the day. Again, Lavante Wiggins (‘14) played hard at running back and carried the ball well.

It was a tough loss, but the Bears showed resilience and continued to compete hard until the final whistle. Berkshire heads to Connecticut on Saturday (10/5) to take on Salisbury under the lights at 7PM.
