The Berkshire Bears kicked off the 2012 campaign with a road trip down to New Canaan, CT to battle the Storm of St. Luke's. Both teams struggled to work out the early season kinks on the offensive side of the ball as the defenses dominated for the first half. St. Luke's broke the scoring drought with a first half touchdown, but the PAT was blocked by Cam Kaiser, keeping the score 6-0. The Bears responded with a methodical drive capped off by a touchdown pass from Daniel Bernstein to Michael Allen. The defense took center stage for the entire third quarter, led by Marquis Carr and TJ Adams, stifling the St. Luke's offense. However, with 8 minutes to go in the fourth quarter St. Luke's converted a 4th and 6 with a play action pass for a touchdown. The two-point conversion followed making the score 14-7 St. Luke's. Berkshire was able to move the ball late behind the strong running of Brendan Moloy and Robert Fiamengobut costly mistakes and untimely miscues prevented the Bears from cashing in any of their drives for scores. St. Luke's added a late touchdown to cap off the scoring and knock off Berkshire 22-7.
Berkshire travels to Kent for a Friday night lights showdown with the perennial power and preseason favorite.
