On Friday, the Bears traveled to New Milford, CT, for an exciting match up against the Canterbury Knights. This was a familiar course to some of runners who competed at the Canterbury Invitational last month. The Bears had a few “firsts” for the season including running a combined girls’ and boys’ race, racing on a Fridayafter a full day of classes, and running our first girls’ meet of the season with a full team of seven! Berkshire’s Sarah Kinney ’15 was the first female overall to cross the finish line as she ran almost 30 seconds faster than her previous Canterbury time earlier in the season. In addition, she was and impressive 12th overall out of nearly fifty male and female runners. Next across the line for Berkshire was captain Julia Slyer ’14 who still maintained an outstanding place considering a recent illness. Olivia Silverman ’15 ran her season’s best and was the third Bear to finish. Running her first meet of her running career was Cristine Qi ’15 who scored for the Bears by coming in fourth. Aly Hall ’14 was Berkshire’s fifth girl to cross the line scoring in her first meet. Directly behind Aly , was captain Francesca Ghi ’14and newcomer Dalia Banevicius ’14 who ran her personal record for the season.
