Cross Country - Girls Varsity
vs. Miss Hall's"
|Date:||October 3, 2012|
In their home debut, the ladies from Berkshire School fought hard for a WIN over Millbrook School (28-29). Millbrook kept the race extremely close from start to finish, proving to be great competition for the Bears. Berkshire’s top runner Tara Blundell ‘14 was first across the finish line with a course record of 20:16. In second place overall was Berkshire’s Co-Captain Julia Slyer ‘14 with her season’s best time. In first for Millbrook was Olivia Dolan with Berkshire’s rooky runner Olivia Silverman ‘15 just a half a minute behind. It was Silverman’s rally in the end, passing an opponent that helped to earn a win for the Bears. Karolin Kreke ‘13 had the most impressive finish of the afternoon. With a twisted ankle, she put everything on the line and raced the last 200 meters to the finish showing tremendous courage. Undeniably, the team’s win was made possible through the added spirit, encouragement, and incredible effort of Co-Captain Francesca Ghi ‘14, and sisters Krisse Niemi ‘15 and Karo Niemi ‘15. These girls model the importance of running for each other, running through pain, and the lesson of sacrifice. On a dreary foggy day, the ladies that comprise the Berkshire Cross Country team provided a bit of sunshine to the hills in Sheffield, MA.
