Cross Country - Girls Varsity
Head Coach: Jennifer Anderson (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Assistant: Britt Plante
Jenny Biondi Anderson comes to Berskhire with over twenty years of personal experience in competitive running. In addition, Jen has lead several teams to State Championships as an assistant and head coach of both track and field and cross country at the public and private high school levels. In addition, she continues to be an accomplished ultra-marathon runner as she enjoys competing in mountain races that are anywhere from 50K to 100 miles in distance. She has recorded some impressive times including first place finishes and course records at various high profile ultra marathon events. These accomplishments, her obvious enthusiasm for the trail, and her pervasive work ethic led to various team sponsorships.
In the last two years, Jen expanded her horizons by completing a couple “long trail” endeavors. With two other women, she took on the challenge of the South Beyond 6,000 (SB6K) where she recorded the fastest women’s time ever. The task required Jen to summit 40 specific peaks in North Carolina that rise above 6,000 feet. This challenge entailed averaging over 40 miles a day on some unforgiving terrain in order to summit the necessary mountains. In fact, fifteen of the peaks involved bushwhacking and navigating to reach the summit. Most recently, in February of 2011, Jen ran the 800 km Camino de Santiago pilgrimage trail starting in France and reaching across Spain to the Atlantic Ocean. Over the course of this 500 mile trail, she encountered some inhospitable terrain and weather including ice, freezing rain, snow, and strong headwinds. She completed the trail in world record time (9 days, 5 hours, and 29 minutes) and averaged 54 miles a day.
Jenny enjoys spreading her love of the trails by hosting local trail runs, and she is excited to take over as the girls’ cross country coach at Berkshire.
