Soccer - Girls Varsity
vs. Miss Porter's
|Date:||October 23, 2013|
|Score:||Berkshire 3 - Miss Porter's 0|
Berkshire traveled to Farmington to play Miss Porters in a B class match-up. The Bears started the game very composed and put together several beautifulcombinations that resulted in dangerous chances. Madison Biason ’17 and Keunna Dill ’14 in particular had a solid first half. With twenty minutes left in the first half Ana Alverenga ’15 crushed a rolling ball in the box into the upper ninety for Berkshire’s first goal. Miss Porters did not go down without a fight and put together some quality shots and held us to the one goal in the half.
It took about ten minutes for the Bears to settle down in the second half and we were then able to penetrate into Miss Porters’ half and keep the ball there for much of the time. Alverenga once again was in the mix. She fed the ball to Allie Brazo ’14 on the wing who sent in a great ball in the middle that bounced around until Sophie Roberts ’16 beat the keeper with a left footed shot. Soon after Roberts intercepted the ball from the Miss Porters’ defender and took the ball down the left side of the field. Roberts then sent in a great cross that Caroline Slyer ’16 one timed into the corner of the net. Berkshire had several other dangerous changes and overall, played a quality game of soccer. Hannah Cooke ’14 once again did a great job commanding the back line and Cam Biason ’14 had several solid saves in net. The Bears now prepare for KO who come to Berkshire next Wednesday. Thanks to the parents who came for their support.
