The Bears traveled down to Simsbury, CT to face the Ethel Walker Wildcats. The Bears came out strong controlling much of the play and dominating the ball. Ten minutes in, a foul against the Wildcats just outside the eighteen yard box was committed. Berkshire's Anna Alverenga '15 lined up to take the shot. The ball flew over the wall and sailed for the Wildcat keeper. Ethel Walker was unable to stop the
powerful ball, and it landed in the back of the net for the first goal of the match. Gaining momentum, the Bears began to lift the level of play by making runs and connecting passes.
Controlling much of the action in the midfield, Lucy Hollister '15 and Allie McErlean '14 set
the tone, creating one offensive play after the other. With twenty-three minutes left in the first half, Hollister fought hard against the Wildcat offense to win ball and then sent a leading pass
for Berkshire forward, Keunna Dill '14. Dill was able to break away with the ball and after two quick touches, and hit a well placed shot on net to score the second goal of the game.
The Wildcats came out strong in the Second half, challenging the Bears to the ball. As the Bears began to regain some momentum, and win balls in the air, the level of play continued to rise. With a strong defense led by captain Hannah Cooke '14, the Bears were able to generate the ball through the midfield up to their forwards. After fighting hard for the ball, Dill sent a ball through the Wildcat defense for
sophomore, Sophie Roberts. Roberts was able to control the ball and place it in the back of the net for the third and final goal of the match.
On Saturday the Bears will travel to Kent, CT to face the Lions.
