Soccer - Boys Varsity vs. St. Mark's

Event Type: Regular

Date: September 15, 2012

Score:3 - 0

Event Recap:

Berkshire opened its season on the road at St. Mark's. The Bears started the match well with some good ball movement and a few early chances that failed to hit the target.  St. Mark's proved to be a tough opponent who competed hard and stayed organized in defense.  Though the Bears controlled much of the action, the game remained even through most of the first half until Zeiko Lewis '13 broke free and beat the keeper for the 1-0 lead.  In the second half, the Bears were able to put two more in the net for a 3-0 lead.  St. Mark's played hard and generated some solid chances on set pieces. Brandon Allen '13 held things together in the back line, and Jack Harrison '15 was crafty as usual in the middle.  Another Kushaina '15 came off the bench and ignited the Bears offense, and his courageous play in front of St. Mark's net created a lose ball, which Anthony Amolo '13 hammered in for the security goal.  In net for the Bears, Sam Clougher '13 made 7 saves on the day and recorded his first shutout of the season.  With two outstanding goals, Zeiko Lewis '13 was awarded the Man of the Match. Up next the Bears play Wilbraham & Monson on Wednesday, 9/19 at 3:00 PM.
