AMSR Seminar Series: Dr. Valerie Bolivar
This Friday, September 14, the Advanced Math/Science Research (AMSR) program inaugurates a new monthly seminar series when Dr. Valerie Bolivar of the Wadsworth Center presents her work with mouse models of Autism. The lecture will take place at 11:15 in the auditorium of the new Math and Science Center and will include time for questions and answers, as well as refreshments. The seminar series is open to the public.
The AMSR Seminar Series will provide a forum for regional scientific experts to share their most recent research and ideas, and provide an opportunity for students and teachers to engage experts on a particular topic and to ask questions about their work or professional journey. Topics for the 2012-2013 seminar series include, but are not limited to, behavioral genetics, infectious disease, environmental studies, and cancer research.
Dr. April Burch, Director of the Advanced Math/Science Research program, is enthusiastic about the impact the new series will have on students. “To be a mathematician, doctor, or scientist is to epitomize a love of learning. Fostering that passion is part of our mission here at Berkshire School. We are extremely fortunate to have a dedicated space in the new Math and Science Center for this kind of presentation. This series presents students with access to the many, diverse talents within our local research community and I am confident that this will inspire students to think about ways to expand their learning beyond the classroom.”
