On September twenty-ninth, eleven Berkshire rock climbers along with Ritt Kellogg Mountain Program Director Frank Barros and teacher Kate Garbutt arrived at Keene Valley in the Adirondacks ready for a night of camping followed by a day on Creature Wall.

Saturday evening faculty and students alike enjoyed the various food offerings and shops of Lake Placid followed by a campfire and s’mores. Sunday morning they were awake and ready to go by 8 am.

Ropes were set up for safety by some of the more advanced students such as Gus Gardner ‘09, Caleb Booth ‘09 and Joe Cohen ‘08 with Frank Barros offering advice and checking everything over. The students took turns belaying and attempting four different routes ranging in difficulty from 5.5 to 5.10.

The crisp fall day was ideal and everyone enjoyed being outside and challenging themselves while supporting their peers.
