GIRLS LACROSSE

April 6: VARSITY vs. Choate - Early in the season opener, the Bears found themselves down by six against a precise and aggressive Choate team, eventually falling 17-7 in regulation. Taking a time-out, the Berkshire refocused; winning the next draw control, the Bears put away their first goal on a free position by Layla Tattersfield '18. Berkshire found their rhythm as Maggie Curran '17 set the defensive tone and starting the offensive transition with strong clearances. Midfielder Eva Clough '18 was relentless in the midfield causing three turnovers and scooping up two ground balls. The Bears converted their fast break opportunities in the final minutes of the second half.

April 9: VARSITY vs. Miss Porter's - The girls lacrosse team defeated Miss Porter's 14-0 during their home-opener on a cool Saturday afternoon. Knowing it would be a total team effort due to limited substitution, the Bears came out to execute with clean transitional play and consistent possession. Seven different players tallied goals, including career firsts for Elsie Harrington '19 and Ruby Merritt '19. Goaltender Maggie Curran '17 notched her first shut-out of the year with seven saves.

BOYS TENNIS

April 9: VARSITY vs. Millbrook - The Bears started their 2017 campaign strong with a 7-0 win over Millbrook. With less than ideal conditions, both teams needed to adjust to the elements quickly. The Bears swept the early doubles matches, putting themselves in good position moving into the singles. The team demonstrated fine skills in the afternoon with a notable nod to Harrison Green '20 for securing his first wins in singles and doubles as a Bear.
