Pro Vita Week: A Look Back

With more than 80 classes to choose from, this year's Pro Vita Winter Session proved to be a vibrant and memorable one for students, faculty and staff at Berkshire. Whether exploring mineral cosmetics, developing a stand-up comedy routine, or learning how to cook like Julia Child, Pro Vita 2014 lived up to its name.

Berkshire Violinist Selected to Massachusetts All-State Orchestra

Shuvam Chakraborty '16 has been playing the violin since the age of 4. Next month, he'll perform at the 60th All-State Music Festival at Symphony Hall in Boston.

Cum Laude Paper Prize Winner

Unyimeabasi Udoh '13 has been awarded a prize from the Cum Laude Society for a paper she wrote while a part of Berkshire's Advanced Humanities Research program.

Twelve students have been honored by the Scholastic Art & Writing
Awards for their work at Berkshire, including Gold Key winners Michaelann Denton, Tianyi Liu, Sam Merritt and Lucia Perkins.
 

Harrison Named Gatorade Player of the Year

Jack Harrison '15 (Lancashire, England) was honored this month as the state's top soccer player by Gatorade. Harrison has won back-to-back NEPSAC titles with the Bears and will co-captain the 2014-2015 team. 

Bears Make Playoff Runs

After defeating Cushing Academy 60-52 in the first round of the Class B NEPSAC tournament, the Girls Varsity Basketball fell to Pomfret School 52-50 on March 1. 

Bears Samone DeFreese '16, Kristalyn Baisden '15 and Hannah Cooke '14 were named to the NEPSAC All-Star Team.

 

Following a 3-1 win over Thayer Academy in the first round of the Class A NEPSAC tournament, the Boys Varsity Hockey team lost to The Gunnery 5-2.


Kellogg Grant Award Winners Announced

Two deserving members of the Berkshire School community — Mike Streeter and Jean Maher —  were named this year's Kellogg Grant award winners. The award is given annually to faculty and staff who've contributed to the school community in a special way.

Hug It Out: Last Bear Standing

The Hugger Games lasted a little over one week and lightened the dark days of February with spirit, competition and life.

February Face-off Update

Young Alumni Classes from 1994-2013 stepped up this February, contributing 331 gifts totaling more than $17,000. Their contributions also led to two $10,000 matches and earned Berkshire 3rd place in this year's competition between 10 schools.
